Collaborations

Ax:son Johnson Institute for Sustainable Urban Design (AxSUD)

AxSUD was formed in 2007, to support the Sustainable Urban Design Master's Programme with finances and resources. The funding goes towards continued development of the programme, including visiting professors, the annual conference, SUDes study trips, workshops and professional development programms. As part of the professional development, a yearly seminar is organized which provides a context for the SUDes workshop conference.

Moss Municipality, Norway

Over the period of three years students of Sustainable Urban Landscape design studio worked on a site in Moss, Norway with a close cooperation with local municipality. The collaborations resulted in numerous interesting ideas for the city's future development.

Malmö City

Malmö is known for its efforts in sustainable planning, including being named one of the six finalists for the European Green Capital. The SUDes programme continues to collaborate with Malmö through the creation of partner exhibitions, exclusive studytrips, and lectures from the staff from the Urban Design department. Studytrips to BO01 allow students to experience a large scale sustainable urban design project. This collaboration is vital to encourage the connection between theory and practice.

University of California, Berkeley

The Sustainable Urban Design programme has an ongoing cooperation with The College of Environmental Design, at the University of California, Berkely. Each year Dean Harrison Fraker join the the SUDes programme for workshops and lectures, contributing to the three design studios.

Lund Municipality

The Sustainable Urban Design Programme at Lund University maintains a high degree of collaboration with the local Lund Municipality. SUDes has been engaged in multiple projects with a collaboration with Lund Municipality. The city planning office has been involved giving lectures and sharing their vision about the city development allowing the student to understand the processes of city planning in practice.

Ängelholm Municipality

Ängelholm municipality has been partner on many students' projects with the Sustainable Urban Design Programme and also worked with the UrbanLab on the vision for the city. 

Ystad Municipality

In the recent years, Ystad municipality have been our partner for Sustainable Urban Recycling studio in which students work on a site in the city. 

Peking University, China

The Sustainable Urban Design programme is in collaboration with Peking University. The collaboration is ongoing since 2009 through Sustainable Urban Dynamics course meeting with the studio lead by Han Xili for week long workshop every fall. This partnership is important for encouraging discussion about the complexity of urban design in our global world. It allows students at both ends to discuss and learn about various perspectives related to the cultural sensitivity in architecture, landscape, and urban design.

Jiao Tong University Architecture Program, China

In the recent years, Jio Tong University has been our partner for Urban Dynamics' workshop in China. The collaboration focuses on joined workshops of Swedish and Chinese students.
