Lund Architecture Symposium 2012

LAS*12 is a two-day symposium on the theme of "the expanding grounds of architecture"

The Lund Architecture Symposium intends to critically examine the situation of today in which globalization has reached other frontiers. Our concern involves an investigation of what individuals and groups of trained architects do today rather than what the market suggests as a base of professional activity. Diversity, perhaps especially through individual commitments, has in the past contributed to our understanding of what architecture really is capable of offering our lives. Is there at present, yet a new shift in paradigm?

Confirmed Speakers include:

Neil Spiller is Dean, School of Architecture, Design & Construction at the University of Greenwich, Professor of Architecture and Digital Theory, Founding Director of the Advanced Virtual and Technological Architecture Research Group (AVATAR) and a practising architect.

Sir Peter Cook is an architect and influential writer and educator, teaching both internationally and at home in London. He co-founded the avant-garde research group Archigram in 1961 and is currently directing the architectural office Crab Studio with Gavin Robotham in London.

Simon Herron is Academic Leader in Architectural Technology at the University of Greenwich and Postgraduate Design Studio Tutor with Susanne Isa. In 1989 he became a partner at the architectural office Ron Herron Associates.

Hermann Klöckner is a Berlin based interaction designer, art director and media artist working with interdisciplinary design group ART+COM.

Léopold Lambert is a French architect and writer currently living in New York. His work is based on an attempted balance between design and writing, one informing the other.

Ena Lloret is a research fellow at the ETH Zurich Department of Arcitecture and Digital Fabrication and also working at the architectural research office Gramazio & Kohler.

Jorge Ayala is the founder of the multidisciplinary design studio [Ay]A STUDIO. He is based in Paris and his research is committed to cutting edge research and material experimentation across scales and between disciplines including Fashion Design, Architecture and Landscape Urbanism.
